One Chance, One Moment (Book One - The Mandy Story) by Judith Kohnen

One Chance, One Moment: Book One – The Mandy Story
By Judith Kohnen

NOVEL DESCRIPTION

LOGLINE:

A nurse trying to escape her past and secure her future as the adopted mother of a young boy she loves takes a well-paying job caring for a famous singer/musician after a car wreck nearly killed him. He refuses help, and she refuses to give up – until her perseverance rehabilitates his body, his career, and their abilities to love again.

SYNOPSIS:

“I can’t teach my old heart new tricks, Mandy. I’m not sure I can even try.”
Sometimes a chance comes along that can change the course of an entire life – make it right again, make a dream come true – and when that moment arrives, we grab it and fight with all of our might to make it happen … or not.
Renowned singer/musician Garry Danzlo has decided to live a life of seclusion after a debilitating accident destroys his musical career. Guilt-ridden and stubborn, he wants no part of the holistic nurse his sister has hired to rehabilitate him. He’s determined to get rid of her; she’s determined to stay.

Spunky, fun-loving Amanda Fields, widowed after a loveless marriage, is on a mission for love. More than anything in the world, she wants to adopt a wheelchair-bound boy named Robbie. When her chance arrives that will provide her with sufficient funds for the adoption, there’s nothing to stop her from accomplishing the temporary job in Colorado. But what she has to contend with is far more than just a difficult patient. Unexpected obstacles are suddenly out of her control. The least of her worries is falling for yet another man who doesn’t love her back.
One Chance, One Moment is a humorous, surprising and deeply emotional story of love found by two special people – love built on chances one must sometimes take, but sometimes give as well.  Each moment becomes nourished by the faith of one woman, and eventually, by the dream of one man.

A Tribute to Barry Manilow: 40 years with Mandy
Author Delivers Inspiring Debut Novel

Judith Kohnen introduces her first novel, a creative inspiration of Barry Manliow’s “Mandy” – the song that skyrocketed his career in the 70s. It was first recorded as a single in October 1974, and Kohnen presents One Chance, One Moment: Book One - The Mandy Story in commemoration of the song’s 40th anniversary and in recognition of Manilow as “the man who makes a difference.” Originally written in 1986, Kohnen recalls, “I knew its title the moment I wrote the last words of the first chapter and never knew what was going to happen next.” One Chance, One Moment has had numerous revisions through the years and Kohnen gives the reason for its delay: “Divine Order, Divine Timing,” she says. “Certain things and experiences had to happen to make the book what it is today.”
In One Chance, One Moment, famous pianist and singer Garry Danzlo has lost the will to live following a debilitating accident that stems from his father’s suicide.  His career halted, Garry wants nothing more than solitude, but a fun-loving nurse sent to rehabilitate him enters his life and changes everything he’s ever believed in.
Nurse and holistic healer Amanda Fields has a dream. She wants to adopt an eight-year- old boy named Robbie. In need of funds for the adoption, Amanda believes this temporary nursing position in Colorado is the miracle she’s been waiting for, but what she has to contend with is far more than she ever expects.
Embracing her inspiration of One Chance, One Moment, Kohnen has dedicated the book to Manilow as a special tribute to “the man who has made a difference in many people's lives.” Also in his honor, Kohnen is donating twenty percent of all net proceeds from One Chance, One Moment to The Manilow Music Project—a charity that tends to the needs of public schools and their severely depleted music programs.
In addition, Kohnen hopes One Chance, One Moment will help introduce readers to something on a much grander scale. “I want to open people’s awareness to their spirituality with this book,” Kohnen says. “The book broaches topics that will hopefully enable readers to seek, find, and realize answers to the problems they face in their daily life today.”
Intriguing, fun, hope-filled, and bubbling with love, adventure and suspense, here are just a few of the themes Kohnen explores in her novel:
How our choices can be guided by intuition
How love goes far deeper than skin
The various facets of the heart and how we observe them in life
The importance of forgiveness to find true peace within
How spirituality and intuitive development can shape our relationships
How we are sometimes faced with “one chance, one moment” opportunities in life.
One Chance, One Moment is a special treat for Manilow fans for Kohnen has interweaved within this one book the very essence of the musician and nearly every song and theme of song that Manilow ever recorded during his entire musical career.
